The 10 Year Anniversary Celebration of the Opening of the Dublin Tunnel 

The Dublin Tunnel celebrated the 10 Year Anniversary of it’s opening on December 20th 2016. Delegates from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), Egis Group, Dublin City Council, Dublin Fire Brigade, An Garda Síochána as wells as Dublin Tunnel employees attended the event at the Dublin Tunnel Control Building.

 

Jeff Burt, TII Service Manager, spoke of the importance of the Dublin Tunnel and the vital role it plays in Dublin’s infrastructure. Structures such as Dublin Tunnel are rarely thought of as lifesaving but that’s is exactly what the statistic show, by diverting HGV and other road user away from city center congestion it has prevented many traffic accidents and saved countless lives. John Cleary, the Tunnel Director, spoke with great pride of the Dublin Tunnel employees highlighting the importance each department and each employee plays in the smooth operation of the tunnel.

 

Jeff Burt and John Cleary presented 10 Years of Service Awards to 27 employees who have been with the Dublin Tunnel since it first opened. They also presented awards to six employees for Outstanding Service and Dedication.

 

The Dublin Tunnel serves nearly 8 million motorists each year from Ireland, UK and Europe.
