Egis Road and Tunnel Operation Ireland (ERTO) is an Irish company established in 2005 and is part of Egis Projects Ireland. We manage Dublin Tunnel, Jack Lynch Tunnel in Cork and the Motorway Traffic Control Centre (MTCC) for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). 

ERTO's responsibility is to manage all processes associated with the Operation and Maintenance of the Dublin Tunnel, Jack Lynch Tunnel and the MTCC. This includes Toll Collection, Traffic Management, Tunnel Safety Management, Emergency and Contingency Planning, Equipment and Infrastructure Inspection and Maintenance. We are located in the Dublin Tunnel Control Building on East Wall Road, Dublin 3.

The position’s holder is responsible towards compliance with the three Codes of Ethics, Integrity and Human Resources Management Code, internal rules, all local regulations and Health & Safety rules that apply in for the Egis Road and Tunnel Operation activities.



  • Overseeing all aspects of the Contractor’s asset management service delivery including without limitation the requirements of ensuring that a whole lifecycle / whole life cost approach is applied to the management of the O&M assets;

  • Driving and shaping asset management strategy and objectives;

  • Determining the approach to the collection and analysis of data relating to asset condition, maintenance costs, reliability, risk and obsolescence, relevant asset management plans;

  • The Asset Manager shall coordinate asset management activities with Planned Maintenance and the undertaking of capital works under Task Order or by third party contractors;



  • The Asset Manager shall have had overall responsibility for the whole lifecycle asset management for the type of infrastructure covered under the ERTO’s O&M contract.

  • The Asset Manager shall have a level eight qualification recognised by the National Framework of Qualifications and Quality and Qualifications Ireland, or other equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline;

  • Comprehensive understanding of the principles of (whole life) Asset Management and Asset Information Management within Ireland and the UK/ peer recognition for expertise/ contribution to Asset Management thinking / good practice;

  • A degree level engineering and / or asset management related qualification and senior professional qualification (chartered) with several years’ membership of a relevant professional body (desirable, but related experience is essential);

  • At least 10 years asset management, maintenance and/or engineering experience, preferably in a tunnels or similar systems environment;

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management position;

  • Completed an Institute of Asset Management Diploma.

  • Ability to manage external suppliers and projects / work packages (essential);

  • Ability to set and achieve realistic targets (essential);
